Description

This client wanted a traditional yet modern look to their kitchen. The old kitchen was dated and there was a wall separating the kitchen to the dining room making the space feel enclosed.

A new steel was put in allowing us to open up the room. We utilised the big space with a beautiful large island able to seat 4 people, as per the customer's requirements.

One problem we faced was that the beams were in the way, not allowing us to have a ceiling extractor. We advised our client to have a vented hob/extractor, which allowed us to place the hob anywhere in the island without the need to be ducted out.

The client really wanted a bank of larder units incorporating the Fridge Freezer, Ovens/Microwaves and to hide the nib of the wall (steel beam). We cut the back of the larder unit to fit around the nib, therefore hiding the beam and creating a continuous flow.

A tall wine cooler was on the wish list. We first had two wine coolers on the island, but this was taking up valuable storage space. Instead, we came up with the idea of converting the under-the-stairs cupboard space to house a tall wine cooler.

We accomplished this by building a stud wall, allowing the depth needed and framing of the appliance so everything looked integrated and part of the kitchen - safe to say the client was overwhelmed and will never have a problem with storing any bottles of wine or beer in the future.
